Garmin’s newest GPS multisports watches, the Vivoactive 4 and 4s were released in September 2019. With enhanced health monitoring and new animated on-screen workouts it will be ideal for people looking for a new multi sports watch.

A fibre re-enforced polymer housing, combined with Gorilla glass 3 and stainless steel bezels give the Vivoactive for a high quality feel. Combined with interchangeable bands, the round design gives it a classy look so you can wear this multi sports watch for all occasions.

The only differences between the vivoactive 4 and 4S are its battery life and the colors they come in. The 4S being the smaller 40 MM version of the 45 MM 4 model comes in more colors such as rose gold or white with a rose gold bezel. The 45 mm model only comes in black and shadow grey.

Weighing 50.5g the Garmin Vivoactive 4 weighs substantially more than the Fitbit Versa or the Apple Watch Series 4 which might be a drawback for some people. 


The Garmin Vivoactive 4 is a multi sports watch which means that one of its key features of course are its excellent activity tracking capabilities ranging from running to cycling, swimming and many other types of activities. The optical heart rate monitor is said to be very accurate making it suitable for enhanced health monitoring.

If you are in to yoga or pilates on screen workouts trough animations make it easy for everyone to do any type of exercise. The watch comes with pre programmed workouts but you can also create your own custom workout routines using Garmin Connect. The only downside is that custom workouts are not animated on the screen like in the prefab workouts.

The Vivoactive 4 supports playlists from, Spotify, Deezer, iHeartRadio and Amazon Prime Music. This means that subscribed users can download up to 500 songs on to their wrist and listen to their favorite music whiteout the need of your phone.

Forgotten your wallet at home? No worries, Garmin pay is a standard feature on both models enabling you to pay everywhere you go. This is done by contactless NFC (near field communication) technology.

Garmin claims a 7-8 day battery l ife in smart watch mode and a 6 h battery life GPS mode with music turned on. This is way better than its competitors like the Fitbit Versa or the Apple Watch Series 4


The Vivoactive 4 is sold on Amazon for $312 and the 4S model is a little bit cheaper depending on the configuration you choose. This can be situated the mid price range of what is available on the market. It is more expensive than the Fitbit Versa but cheaper than an Apple Watch Series 4.
